The 2010 Western Days Fair & Exposition in Red Deer, Alberta kicks off next week. This year’s summer’s fair will run from July 21 through to July 25. The Summer Fair in central Alberta always provides people with fun and excitement for the whole family.

The Western Days gets started with the parade on Wednesday at 9:30am. The parade is an excellent enjoyment that every one loves to watch and participate in. This years parade route starts things off at the Red Deer Arena and goes north on 47th Avenue, west on 53rd Street, south on 51st Avenue, east on 48th Street to south on 48 Avenue ending at the Red Deer Lodge.Parade Map.

The Midway at the Western Park will open at noon on Wednesday after the parade is over. This years midway should be an exciting one with more thrilling rides than there was last year, with 15 thrill seeker rides, 16 family rides, 11 rides for the little ones, this brings the total to 42 rides.

McDonald’s Kids Day is set for Thursday July 22nd Presented by Big 105.5 and the Drive. This is a free admission for children 12 and under until 6 p.m. and kiddie rides are reduced by one coupon until 7 p.m.

Enmax Family Day is Sunday July 25th, with admission and parking for $20 for a carload of up to six people.

Admission to the park this year is $9 for adults, $5 for those 65 and older, $7 for youth age 13 to 18, $4 for children 6 to 12 and free for children five and under. Parking costs $6.

The KFC Little Red Barn & Ag Awareness is a very popular spot for the old or young. This venue at the is open daily Noon – 9:00 pm (Noon – 8:00 pm, Sunday).  This allows the petting of  a variety of farm animals and the displays, demonstrations so that you can see first hand these agricultural animals. Remember you don’t have to be young to enjoy something.

The Toyota Pony Chuckwagon Races run every night at 6:00pm starting on Wednesday to Saturday and on 2:00 pm on Sunday at the Racetrack. Drivers compete for these days for the Championship Buckle and Trophy.

The RCMP Police Dog Service will be putting on a show that reveals details on obedience training with Police Service Dog, Narco, tracking human scents, criminal apprehension in addition to investigating explosives, assisting with emergency response and search and rescue.

The Fas Gas Plus Northern Lights Fireworks Show provided by Fireworks Spectaculars Canada Ltd. out of Calgary. This spectacular Fireworks Show will take place on Wednesday, July 21 at 10:45 pm near the racetrack. In case of bad weather, the fireworks will take place on Thursday, July 22nd at 10:45 pm also near the racetrack.
